COVID-19

During these uncertain times, our team at Serencroft Care Homes is working tirelessly to ensure that our homes and your loved ones are safe, supported and can continue to enjoy friendship and family.

We are working closely with the healthcare community to ensure that all of our care homes follow COVID-19 best practices and guidelines. We are all in this together and know that these past few months have been so difficult for families and we are here to support you every step of the way.

COVID-19 UPDATE

15 February 2021: All Residents have been offered their first COVID-19 vaccination and the second vaccinations are currently underway.

CURRENT MEASURES & COVID-19 INFORMATION

Together let's keep our homes safe & support your loved ones.

HOW WE KEEP RESIDENTS, STAFF & VISITORS SAFE

We are currently using Polymerase Chain Reaction and Lateral Flow Tests on a regular basis to ensure we can identify and isolate any positive cases of Coronavirus within the staff cohort and Residents. Staff will be asked to isolate in line with government guidelines.

Lateral Flow Device testing (LFD):

We are pleased to announce that shortly we will be introducing LFD testing in our homes to facilitate rapid results that will help us to keep our Residents, staff and visitors safe. LFD is a new technology which enables rapid display of COVID-19 test results within 20-30 minutes and does not require a lab to process. The LFD tests can be self-administered via nasal and throat swabs similar to the current PCR tests.

Serencroft Care Homes will be employing a member of staff to facilitate this COVID-19 testing process. Our care home’s are looking forward to receiving the delivery of LFD so that we can test scheduled visitors. Each home will contact you directly once we are in a position to offer LFD testing. In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like further information please do not hesitate to contact us, we are here to help.

Admissions Process

Government guidance on care homes is very regularly updated. These guidelines recommend that the default policy should be to ask all new Residents to stay in isolation for 14 days from the day of admission.

Each Home will consult with all potential admissions informing them of this condition and to obtain their consent to this as a condition of their admission and for those who cannot give their consent, consideration for an authorisation may be needed under DoLS because of the restrictions that admission immediately imposes on them.

Visiting Policy & Procedures

Time is precious and we do everything we can to help ensure that our Residents can spend their time in our homes doing what makes them happy. We are committed to doing everything we can to support safe visits in our care homes and we’ve witnessed many joyful and moving moments when Residents and their loved ones have been reunited through the introduction of safe garden, window and indoor visits over recent months, in line with government and public health guidance.

We look forward to welcoming more Relatives and friends to our homes to visit Residents, where it is safe to do so, with robust safety and infection control measures in place. We are continually reviewing our visiting policies, risk assessments and making changes where possible and safe, so that we can help to reunite more families, whilst still prioritising the safety of our Residents, care team and visitors alike.

POD VISITS

We have now installed a visiting pod in each of our homes and our Residents have been receiving visits in these safe spaces. All of these visits have been risk assessed and agreed by each local health protection team.

This guidance is subject to change based on future government guidance, the situation at individual homes, decisions taken by the local Director of Public Health, and local or national lockdowns. We will continue to keep our policies under review and provide updates accordingly and remain committed to doing everything we can to keep loved ones united.

compassionate visits

Sadly, some Residents move into our care homes to receive care at the end of their lives due to advanced disease progression; and in these cases, we’re able to arrange compassionate “in-room” visits for close family members. Compassionate visits are really important for our Residents and their families so we do everything that we can to ensure that you can be together in the safest way possible.
